ONQUEST EXPANDS NOX AND COMBUSTION TECHNOLOGIES GROUP
Process Technology Firm Hires Thermal Oxidation Specialist Anu Vij
Los Angeles, CA / Calgary, ON (July 16, 2009) OnQuest, Inc., the furnace and process technology company based in San Dimas, Calif., has expanded its operating group focused on emission and pollution control technologies to include design and implementation of thermal oxidation units, announced President and Chief Operating Officer Kevin Hand.
To broaden the firm's offerings in NOx controls and combustion technology, OnQuest has appointed Anu Vij, a thermal oxidation specialist with more than 15 years of experience in designing environmental solutions and pollution control applications for industrial clients.
"Air emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) are receiving ever-increasing attention from regulators and industry," notes Hand. "As public concerns mount about pollution and possible climate change, industrial companies can turn to us for expertise."
"Anu Vij has a proven record of designing thermal oxidation units," said Hand, "He is the ideal choice to help us augment OnQuest's existing environmental solutions for the refining, chemical, and petrochemical industries."
Vij has deep experience in chemical engineering and environmental expertise, including design, construction, and operational consulting for applications to minimize or eliminate VOCs and HAPs. Before joining OnQuest, Vij was director of operations at Pro-Environmental, Inc., in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. From 2001 to 2005, he was a project manager and lead process engineer at ADV Engineering, Inc., in Chino Hills, Calif. He earned an M.S. in chemical engineering and performed post-graduate research at the University of Southern California. He earned his B.S. in chemical engineering at Panjab University, India.
OnQuest is a leading provider of pre- and post-combustion environmental applications for oil and gas processing clients. The company has designed selective catalytic reduction (SCR) units to reduce NOx emissions for Fortune 500 global energy companies.
"Thermal oxidation is a proven, effective method for reducing pollutants and other undesirable exhaust gases that are by-products of industrial processes," said Hand. "Our NOx reduction and pollution control engineers can now design and fabricate more pollution-control solutions for companies in the energy and chemicals sector."
Also known as fume incinerators, thermal oxidation units are highly efficient in the combustion of VOCs and HAPs. Recuperative thermal oxidizers combine a heat exchanger with a combustion chamber. They can accommodate a wide range of process flow rates and VOC concentrations, and can achieve destruction efficiencies greater than 99%. Regenerative thermal oxidizers - which cycle heat application - cost-effectively oxidize harmful gases and can achieve more than 95% thermal efficiency.
